Community First Bank Joins Kokomo Rescue Mission to Give Kids a Strong Start to the School Year

July 18, 2025 – Community First Bank (CFB) has donated $15,000 to support the Kokomo Rescue Mission’s annual Back to School Assistance Program, helping 416 students from 186 families in Howard County start the school year with confidence.

Each student received a new pair of name brand athletic shoes, six pairs of socks, and six pairs of underwear. These essentials make a big difference for families preparing for the school year. The event was held at Grace United Methodist Church and supported by 79 volunteers from across the community, who contributed a total of 278 hours of service.

In addition to financial support, several CFB employees volunteered at the event, helping greet families and guiding students through the various stations.

The Kokomo Rescue Mission prepares for the event year-round. With help from Crossroads Community Church, the team sources discounted shoes and organizes logistics to ensure a smooth experience for families. The program is open to income-qualified families with students entering kindergarten through 12th grade.
