A New Chapter for a Historic Landmark: Community First Bank Grows in Downtown Kokomo

August 4, 2025 – In a move that blends heritage with forward-thinking growth, Community First Bank of Indiana (CFB) is excited to announce its expansion into one of Kokomo’s most storied buildings: 102 N. Washington St. Historically the Kokomo City Building, the 1893 structure is now poised to begin a new chapter – this time as a hub for community-focused banking and collaboration.

The decision to invest in this space reflects CFB’s enduring commitment to Kokomo. The bank, founded here in 2003 to meet the needs of local residents and businesses, is deepening its footprint in the heart of the city with this latest addition to its downtown presence.

“This expansion is a natural extension of our mission,” said Robb Blume, President and CEO. “We were founded by people who live here, understand this community, and are committed to helping it thrive. Investing in downtown Kokomo allows us to continue that legacy while contributing to the vibrancy of the area.”

The newly acquired building will house several administrative departments and feature a dedicated event space for employee training, shareholder gatherings, and customer events. Renovations are already underway, and staff have begun transitioning into the space.

CFB’s expansion also signals continued growth. “We’re proud to be creating opportunities right here in Kokomo,” Blume added. “This building not only meets our immediate needs – it positions us to grow our team and deepen our community impact.”

The bank’s footprint in downtown Kokomo already includes its branch at 201 W. Sycamore St. and its Investment Office at 100 S. Washington St., both of which will remain open and active.

The building itself carries a rich legacy. According to a 2022 Kokomo Tribune article, it originally housed the mayor’s office, police, and fire departments. Thoughtful renovations over the years have preserved its character, and CFB is honored to continue that stewardship as the building enters a new era.

The previous owner, Fortune Management, will relocate to 329 North Main St.
